Advances in Chemical Conditioning of Residual Activated Sludge in China

Municipal sludge is characterized by high organic matter content, viscosity, and fine particles, resulting in poor dewatering performance. This article analyzes the composition properties of municipal sludge, examines factors affecting performance mechanisms corresponding to each influencing factor, introduces chemical conditioning detail. Chemical includes flocculation conditioning, oxidation acid-base aggregate conditioning. The principles applications existing technologies are systematically analyzed. By comparing advantages disadvantages different technologies, it pointed out that key developing technology lies a more appropriate combination process according quality wastewater treatment plants, taking into account their local environment, input costs, subsequent disposal methods, other factors, further optimizing new efficient environmentally friendly agents.
